Built by someone whose day runs through his inbox.
Inbox Serial was made by a practicing attorney. If something lands in his inbox, it gets done — so that is where the books he had always meant to read now arrive, one short installment at a time.
Every book on the shelf ships the way he wants to read it: cut at the author’s own seams, with a line of recap at the top, at an hour he chose. Nothing is abridged and nothing is summarized.
The premise is not that you lack discipline. It is that a 600-page novel asks for a kind of uninterrupted evening most working people no longer have, and a couple of minutes a morning is a thing anyone can hold onto.
The texts
Carefully produced public-domain editions, chiefly from Standard Ebooks, with a few from Project Gutenberg and Wikisource, credited at the foot of every email. Inbox Serial is not affiliated with Standard Ebooks.
The cuts
Each book is divided by hand at its own seams — chapters, scenes, letters, sonnets — so that no installment ends mid-thought.
